Am I guaranteed to see mountain gorillas?
While wildlife can never be guaranteed, the chances are extremely high. Rangers monitor each habituated gorilla family daily, giving us an excellent idea of their location before every trek. To date, every Indy Escapes Gorilla Trekking tour has successfully seen the gorillas.
How difficult is Gorilla Trekking?
Gorilla Trekking is an active adventure through rainforest and mountainous terrain. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, although you don't need to be an athlete. Porters are also available to help carry bags and assist during the trek.
How long does Gorilla Trekking take?
Every trek is different. Finding the gorillas can take anywhere from under an hour to several hours, depending on where the family is located that day. Once found, you'll spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. The full experience usually lasts between 2 and 7 hours.
Is Gorilla Trekking safe?
Yes. Every trek is led by experienced local guides and licensed park rangers who know the gorilla families and the surrounding forest. Before setting off you'll receive a full safety briefing, and group sizes are kept small to protect both guests and the gorillas.

Travellers arrive from all over the world to begin our tours and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. The good news is that your airport transfers are included so we will organise an Indy Escapes representative meet you at the Kigali International Airport in Kigali, Rwanda and transfer you to our hotel in Kigali on the first day of the tour, and return you to the airport on your final day of the tour for no additional cost.
