  • Who are Indy travellers?
Indy Escapes attract young professionals who want to connect with likeminded individuals and experience an adventure. Whether you're travelling solo, with a group of friends, or are aged in your mid 20s to 40, we have no doubt that you will have the time of your life! Each trip is designed to evoke your sense of adventure, learn a little about culture and conservation, along with social events in the evening where you can share a drink with new friends. If you are the type fo person that would get bored sitting in a resort on your own surrounded by honeymooners, then there is no other way to experience the Maldives! We only take you to the best places, to do the best activities!
  • How many people will be on my trip?
Good things come in small packages, which is why we keep our group sizes down. This means we’re small enough to remain flexible as we thread our way through communities without intimidating the locals. On most of our trips you’ll be part of an intimate group of 15-20 people, though our group sizes can vary.
  • Are there age restrictions on your trips?
We do note that majority of our guests are between their mid 20s to 40. We feel that this demographic allows the best cohesion between the groups as we will be active and exploring, eating at nicer restaurants and socialising in the evenings. If you fall outside this group please feel free to contact us and discuss further.
  • I’m travelling alone! Is that OK?
This is the beauty of the Indy Escapes style of travel: Many of our travellers join because they are travelling solo, can’t find a friend that will join them and want to meet and share new experiences with like-minded people. We will be ticking off a number of bucket list items together as well as sipping on cocktails most evening so it is a great environment to make new friends and share a laugh! We have a saying ‘come as strangers, leave as friends’
  • If I am travelling solo, will I  be charged a single supplement?"
As a solo traveller, you will be paired up with another passenger of the same gender as per your passport information. If you’re not comfortable sharing a room with someone of the same gender, you also have the choice to pay for a single supplement.
  • Will someone take photos of us?
Yes, we realise the importance of capturing these once in a life time experiences so our staff are equip with SLR, Drone, GoPro & Underwater cameras to capture every single moment so there is no need to worry about missing that perfect shot! The photos are distributed free of charge by our group leader during our trip!
  • Do I get any free time?
The beauty of travelling with Indy Escapes is that we encourage travellers to explore at their own pace. When you get to a destination, your leader will offer options on what you can do. Some of the group will do one activity, others will opt for something completely different while others may just choose to lie in a hammock and read a book.

  • Do I need Travel Insurance?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is compulsory on all Indy Escapes trips. This should be taken out at the time of booking. You can also purchase travel insurance with us through our partner World Nomads. We recommend getting a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for all medical expenses (including repatriation) and any expensive items you bring away with you such as laptops, tablets, smart phones and cameras. Check the policy wording and excess limits before you book and make sure they are to your satisfaction. Travel insurance should be taken out at the time of booking in case of unforeseen events which may lead you to cancel your trip. For more information, please visit the Travel Insurance page of this website, where you can find more tips about what to look for in a policy and search for a policy from World Nomads. Travel insurance is particularly important in North America, where uninsured travellers can be left facing huge medical bills should they require treatment. Double check that the policy you choose covers you for travel in the USA or Canada.
  • Are trips physically demanding?
Want to lie in a hammock and not move until cocktail hour? Want to backflip off a boat or go scuba diving? Want to wake up early and participate in a beach clean up? So there are lots of potions to keep active, but if you chose to participate, you can do so at your own pace!
  • Can I opt out of certain activities if I want to?
Absolutely. If there are included or optional activities that you don’t wish to participate in, you can do your own thing instead. The exception to this is when we are trekking or travelling from one destination to the next. Please note that if you choose to opt out of an included activity, no reimbursement can be made by Indy Escapes.

All of our group adventures are guaranteed to depart. That means that once you book your trip it’s confirmed to run, regardless of how many other travellers have booked. We however guaranteed that you will not be flying solo.
  • What is the currency in my destination? How much should I take in credit cards/cash? Can I use my credit card during my trip?
Maldivian Ruffya is the local currency but $USD is widely used and accepted. As most things are included in the trip, you will only need money for optional extras such as; Resort Visits, Alcohol, Scuba Diving, Watersports and snacks. You will be able to pay in $USD or via credit card.
  • Is tipping commonplace in the Maldives?
At the end of your trip, if you're happy with the service you received, providing a tip for the staff - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it's of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Indy Escapes destinations.

Yes, if you have more than 10 guests we can organise an exclusive Island Hopping Trip for you and your friends on dates that suit you! Please send an email to for more information.
