Sri Lanka: Optional Extra Activities 

We have organised the BEST activities in the Sri Lanka to help maximise and enhance your experience with an itinerary that flows from one bucket list item to another.

The below activities are optional extras (plus more!) are organised and discussed in more detail by our local guides when we are on tour. Although most guests chose to do all of the activities, the activities are not compulsory and are all completely optional, which allows you to have the flexibility to opt in and out as you please.

Please note that all excursions must be paid for in USD cash directly to your rep whilst we are on tour. It is therefore, best to bring USD cash if you are looking to participate in the activities, as you will not be able to withdraw USD in the Sri Lanka.

Train Ride: Included

Often described as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, the full Kandy to Ella route takes around eight hours. To maximise your time, we'll transfer you to the most scenic section of the railway, allowing you to experience the spectacular mountain landscapes without spending an entire day on the train. Travel through lush tea plantations, misty mountains, waterfalls and traditional villages before crossing the famous Nine Arch Bridge and arriving in Ella. Best of all, your luggage will be transferred separately and will be waiting for you at the hotel when you arrive.

Ravana Pool Club: $40 USD

Spend the afternoon relaxing at Ravana Pool Club, one of Ella's most popular luxury venues. Enjoy access to a VIP booth reserved exclusively for our group, an infinity pool overlooking the surrounding mountains, a heated outdoor spa, great music, delicious food and refreshing cocktails. It's the perfect place to unwind after the scenic train journey and soak up the incredible views with your new travel friends.

Safari: Included

Experience an unforgettable afternoon safari through Udawalawe National Park with experienced local guides who know exactly where to find the wildlife. The park is famous for its large population of wild Asian elephants and is also home to water buffalo, crocodiles, monkeys, spotted deer, wild boar, peacocks, eagles and hundreds of bird species. Travel through vast open grasslands, wetlands and scenic reservoirs as you explore one of Sri Lanka's best national parks in custom-built safari vehicles.

Surf Lesson: $20 USD

Learn to surf on the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka with experienced local instructors. Before heading into the ocean, you'll begin on the sand where your instructor will teach you the basics, including paddling, popping up and balance techniques, giving everyone the opportunity to build confidence before catching their first wave. With warm water, sandy beaches and beginner-friendly conditions, Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to learn to surf.

Yoga, Ice Bath & Sauna: $25 USD

Take some time to slow down and recharge with a guided yoga session followed by an invigorating ice bath and relaxing sauna experience. Whether you're looking to improve recovery after a week of adventures or simply enjoy some time focusing on your wellbeing, this experience combines movement, mindfulness and recovery in a peaceful tropical setting.

Cooking Class: $25 USD

This is truely paradise! We will have another opportunity to spend the day at an incredible resort, the only difference is that today, we have an all inclusive package. This means that the entry price includes return transfers, entry, unlimited beer, wine, cocktails and a delicious international buffet lunch. We will spend the afternoon exploring the island then end up in the pool at the swim up bar where we will watch the sunset together. The best thing about this is that you will finally have an opportunity to get up close to the amazing overwater bungalows!

Food & Drinks

Meals are between $5 - $15 USD, ice creams, snacks and soft drinks are around $1 - $3 USD and alcoholic drinks at the floating bar (beer, wine, cocktails) are between $2 - $10 USD.

We truely believe that the best way to explore this amazing places is with a group. Sri Lanka is full of Bucket List Experiences - You have the opporuntiy to join a wildlife safari, take the Ella to Kandy train rides, surf lessons, hikes or even too drink cocktails in an infinity pool, so why would you want to travel the Sri Lanka alone?
