Day 1: NAIROBI

We commence our African experience after meeting your Indy Escapes crew at our hotel at 3pm for check in to your gaming tents. You will be given an introduction to the trip and what you can expect along the journey, along with being able to ask any questions that you have, then we will hit the road tomorrow morning!

We will spend the afternoon around the pool together, getting to know your new travel buddies then we will all have a big buffet dinner together onsite. Then in the evening we will set up shop around a paved and seated campfire to enjoy a friendly and relaxing night cap, before starting our adventure tomorrow morning.

Day 2: RUBEN

We hope that everyone is recharged after a lazy night around the pool and is read to head to our first stop within Nairobis communities. After breakfast, we will arrive at the Ruben Centre, located in the Mukuru kwa Ruben slum, and received a guided orientation of the community project.

The Mukuru area now has a population of over 600,000 and many families live in corrugated iron shacks measuring 10 x 10 feet. Earnings are low and often inadequate to feed their families. Consequently, their children look to other means of survival such as prostitution, drug peddling, begging and other criminal activities.

The Ruben Centre, with its three core areas of Education, Health and Community Development, is attempting to reconcile some of the hardships that the residents of Mukuru face. Today you will be exposed to all of the areas and see which one resonates the most with you, then you will spend more time there if you like. Before our tour we will be completing various fundraiser to support the Ruben Centre and in this instance will be funding the primary school of 3,000 students first ever computer lab. Please see the links below for more information.

We will head back to camp after spending the day in the community where you will have a the option to eating in or heading into town to try some local cuisine.

Day 3: MAASAI MARA

Today, we start making our way to one of the most well known and popular places in Africa! We will hit the road in our 4 x 4 safari jeeps and start making our way through the Rift Valley to the lush. We will stop at some amazing viewpoints and have lunch at a unique little restaurant, before continuing on to the Maasai Mara.

We will arrive at our flaming tents in the afternoon and have a couple of hours to cool off at the resort pool before dinner. We recommend an early night because we have two big days coming up on our Maasi Safari.

Day 4: MAASAI MARA

We are up at the crack of dawn and have a big buffet breakfast before heading into the park as soon as the gates open. This will give us the best opportunity to see some of the animals hunting at dawn, plus it will also give us the chance to drive deeper into the less travelled Mara Triangle.

We will be on the hunt for the BIG 5! Originally referred to the difficulty in hunting the lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and African buffalo, we have the chance to try and spot all of them whilst in this section of the national park. If we are lucky we may even see

Day 5: MAASAI VILLAGE

Today, we hope that you will be able to tick a few more items off your bucket list! Those who would like to join in on the once in a life time Hot Air Balloon Ride over the Maasai Mara will be departing at 4am to catch the sunrise and enjoy a champagne breakfast, before meeting up with the other guests at around 9am. Others who would prefer a sleep in will wake up and ready to depart at 7am to start making our way to the Mara River to all meet up for lunch.

We will say goodbye to our amazing glamping village after breakfast and continue to head north towards the lakes region, but before we leave, no visit to the Maasai Mara would be complete without a visit to a local village to see the world famous Maasai Warriors. We will be able to see what life is like in the village, see a traditional dances and jumping, explore some local homes and then buy some souvenirs from a local market.

Once we have finished at the village, we will start making our way towards our lodge in Nakuru. En route we will stop for lunch and then pop in to Lord Egertons Castle, beofre spending the afternoon looking out over the surrounding landscape from the pool at our lodge.

Day 6: NAKURU

After an early breakfast, we will depart the lodge with a packed picnic lunch and proceed for a full day game drive in the Nakuru National Park where you will have a chance to visit a unique sanctuary catering for a number of the endangered rhinoceros and the Rothschild giraffe. Also to be seen is a myriad different variety of birdlife in and around the lake, including thousands upon thousands of flamingo. Waterbucks, lion and leopard are also common at the park, so we have no doubt that your cup will be full by the time we leave to head back to the lodge.  We will have a campfire and drinks after dinner.

Day 7: NAIVASHA & HELLS GATE

Boom! Just like that we are on the last day of our safari and have an action packed day before heading back to Nairobi. We will start early after breakfast and head straight to Lake Naivasha , where you will have the chance to explore the lake by boat and see the hippos that inhabit the area. during the boat ride you will also have the opportunity to go to the Crescent Island Nature Reserve, where you can explore the island by foot and get nice and close to wildlife such as zebra and giraffe.

After spending some time at Lake Naivasha we continue heading toward Hells Gate National Park, where you will have the incredible opportunity to explore the park via bicycle. This is a rarity in Kenyan National Parks, and is only made possible due to the lack of large predators such as lions and cheetah. We will have lunch in the park and catch a glimpse of Fischer’s Tower before we pack up and start heading back to Nairobi for our final night together.

Day 8: NAIROBI

Meet up for a breakfast together with your new friends, reflecting over what just may have been the most fulfilling 12 days of your life travelling through Africa! Can it get any better?

After breakfast the Indy Escapes crew bids you farewell as you continue your adventures through Africa.

What are you waiting for? It's time to tick this off your bucket list!
