Maldives: Excusions

True, overwater villas are a stunning sight, and those photographs are what initially lured us to the Maldives. However, is there anything more to do in the Maldives besides relax? Definitely! The Maldives is a paradise for adventurers, water sports enthusiasts, and lovers. Below are the best things to do in Maldives!

We have organised the BEST activities in the Maldives to help maximise and enhance your experience with an itinerary that flows from one bucket list item to another.

Whale Shark Excursion: Included

The whale shark is a gentle and beautiful sea creature that lives in the ocean's depths and the worlds largest fish. These gentle giants can be spotted swimming in the ocean's currents in the Maldives, most frequently in South Ari Atoll. We will set off after breakfast and spend the day on a traditional Dhoni boat, sailing between the Islands of Dhigurah and Maamagili in search of the majestic giants.

Unfortunately, the industry is unregulated and numerous island resorts and guest houses organise their own Maldives tour for this thrilling adventure, so we team up with the Maldives Whale Shark Research Program to ensure that our guests enjoy the experience in an informed and environmentally conscious manner.

Manta Ray Excursion: $55 USD

Swimming with a Manta Ray is a truely majestic experience. Commonly confused with a Stingrays, which spend most of their time scavenging the sandy ocean floor for a snack, Mantas are much larger and prefer to spend time in the open oceans of the tropics. It is not until you get in the water with a Manta that you realise how huge these mesmerising and playful creature really are. Some interesting fact about Mantas is that they must constantly swim to stay alive and that origins of the word 'Manta' actually stem from the Spanish word for 'blanket' or 'cloak'. We will spend the morning around a Manta Cleaning station on the lagoon side of Dhigurah.

Sunset Cocktails on a Super Yacht: $30 USD (Seasonal)

Tonight we organise an incredible little surprise for you! We will get picked up on the bikini beach just before sunset and make our way out to a spectacular boat that is located in the lagoon. Our evening starts with a popular local artist playing acoustic guitar and singing, whilst our team can buy drinks over the bar. Guest will have the chance to have a sunset swim and snorkel before jumping back onward for a huge buffet dinner and some Karaoke.

You cannot go to the Maldives and not visit a resort! Although, navigating the locals islands offers and an amazing opportunity to travel this beautiful country at an affordable price, we still highly recommend a day trip to a resort and basking in the exclusivity of the Maldives. Entry is $75 USD plus taxed and service charges which amount to $92 USD in total, the price includes up to $92 of value at the bar and restaurants - The way that we look at it is, it's free entry if you spend $92 at the resort! This is one of our favourite stops on our Maldives Island Hopping Tour and one where you will get some fantastic photos.
